Xing Yu Chou | Baritone sheng

     Xing Yu Chou is from Nantou County, and she has been learning music since childhood. She was enlightened by Principal Mu Yan Liu to learn sheng. Xing Yu Chou was graduated from the Chinese Music Department of TNNUA. She was major in sheng, and supervised by Hui Peng Tsai, Wen Ji Lin, and Jin Quan Wei. In addition, Xing Yu Chou has been instructed by several well known professors and musicians, such as Guan Lu Li and Zhen Fa Weng. Her sub-major was piano, and had been received mentorship from Hui Jing Liu, Zi Hui Li, Rui Qi Sun, and Bi Yin Dai. Flute had been Xing Yu Chou’s sub-major as well, and Fu Ji Liu was her mentor.

 

     Xing Yu Chou had been awarded numerous times when she was at school. She was the first place in high school group in 2005 and 2007. In addition, she was the second place of sheng solo performance at National Student Competition of Music in 2006. She participated a concert led by master performing musician in China, Guan Lu Li in 2009 and received a positive response. Xing Yu Chou held a graduation concert in 2012, and late had a successful solo concert in 2015. She managed to use lu sheng, traditional sheng and sheng with 36 reeds to interpret a series of traditional, ethnic minority and modern scores.
