     Ya Yuan Zhang is a young sheng musician, and owns an accurate, sophisticated and powerful performing style. She has been delivering great results in all sorts of solo competitions. In addition, she has an expertise of representing different art forms combining with sheng, and is often invited to be the sheng performing musician in this sort of contests and concerts. Her major achievements these years have been recording the famous suona score “A Hundred Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix” in 2017, and being invited to attend the 18th Jeonju International Sori Festival in Korea with Taiwan young suona musician Qian Yun Tseng. Ya Yuan Zhang became one of the official members of Tainan City Traditional Orchestra in 2020.

 

     Before joining Tainan City Traditional Orchestra, Ya Yuan Zhang was a freelance musician devoting herself to music performance and teaching and being a sheng musician in many orchestras in Taiwan. She delivered concert performances in Taipei, Tainan and Kaohsiung with Taiwan Philharmonic Chinese Orchestra between 2017 and 2019. She participated the recording of National Chinese Orchestra Taiwan annual album in 2018. In 2019, Ya Yuan Zhang was with T.H.P. Moving Reeds Ensemble and experienced a performance of music communication with an orchestra led by the master musician in China, Professor Guang Lu Li. She was with Taipei Chinese Orchestra to deliver concert performances in September, 2019.

 

     Ya Yuan Zhang has held several solo recitals and joint concerts. She had her own concert at Dream Land Concert Hall, Tainan in 2014. She had her master graduation solo recital at TNNUA in 2016. Ya Yuan Zhang held a joint concert with yangqin musician of Tainan City Traditional Orchestra, Yong Yuan Lin at Tainan Municipal Cultural Center in 2020, and gained a positive response.

 

     Ya Yuan Zhang expects herself to promote sheng, this ancient Chinese music instrument, internationally by delivering diverse performances, crossovers and corporations in various forms.
