Feng-Cheng Tu was born on March 20, 1967, in Tainan City, Taiwan. He graduated from the Department of Music (Chinese Music Division) at Chinese Culture University in June 1993, and has served as a full-time Suona player for the Tainan City Chinese Orchestra since October 20, 2000.
In March 1990, Tu won Third Prize in the Suona category at the 3rd National Instrumental Concerto Competition. On May 13, 1992, he performed in the "Mountain Songs and Water Rhythms" joint concert at the Recital Hall of the National Concert Hall. On March 2, 1997, he held the "Spring Rhymes in Mountain Villages – Tu Feng-Cheng Chinese Wind Music Night" concert at the Tainan Municipal Cultural Center Performance Hall. In 2000, he participated in recording two volumes of the Confucius Temple album The Thirteen Elegant Tones, produced by Professor Lin Ching-Tsai. From September 2011 to June 2018, he served as an adjunct lecturer of professional technical skills in the Department of Music at Tainan University of Technology, and frequently serves as a jury member for national, county, and municipal student music competitions.
Suona master Liu Song-Hui praised him in writing: "Tu Feng-Cheng excels in traditional Chinese suona, operatic suona, and minority wind instruments such as the hulusi, guan, and Xinjiang wooden suona. He possesses rich performance experience, accurate tone control, and highly authentic interpretation styles, earning widespread acclaim as an exceptionally fine suona performer in Taiwan."
