Yung-Yuan Lin , a young Taiwanese Yangqin Artist, was born in Taoyuan and graduated from the Seven-Year Continuous Program and the Master's Program of the Department of Chinese Music at Tainan National University of the Arts (TNUA). He currently serves as a Yangqin Artist in the Tainan City Chinese Orchestra. He began learning the Yangqin at the age of seven, under the guidance of Teacher Sun, Bao-Xing, and subsequently studied under Kang,Hong-Ling, Huang, Yu-Jue, Lee, Shu-Fen, and Lai, Hsiu-Yi. He has also sought masterclasses and instruction from renowned Chinese masters including Zhang, Gao-Xiang, Xu, Xue-Dong, Li,Ling-Ling, Yu, Hai-Ying, Wang, Se, and Wang, Yu-Jue.
Since his youth, Lin has been a frequent winner in major domestic and international competitions. He was awarded First Prize in the Junior High School and College Groups at the National Student Music Competition organized by the Ministry of Education in Taiwan, and won Gold Awards at the China Yangqin Art Festival Invitational Competitions in Hangzhou (2012) and Mongolia (2014). In 2014, he emerged victorious, winning First Place in the Elite Cup Yangqin Competition organized by the Taipei Chinese Orchestra (TCO). Later, at the Taipei International Chinese Instrumental Competition, he collaborated with the Taipei Chinese Orchestra under the baton of conductor Wu Rui-Cheng, competing alongside top finalists and winning the Merit Award, earning high recognition from the music community.
In addition to his numerous competition accolades, Lin boasts extensive performance experience. In 2013, he held the "Resonance of Fate" Yangqin Solo Concert, showcasing his exceptional talent. In the autumn of 2014, he was selected as a "Jiu-Ge Emerging Talent" by the Jiu-Ge Chinese Orchestra, performing the famous Yangqin concerto Command of the General with conductor Chen Chung-Shen. In 2015 and 2017, he performed as a soloist with Tainan Music Ensemble under conductor Tu Chieh-Ming at their annual concert and the Taoyuan Chinese Music Festival. In 2017, he held the "Dreaming & Searching" Lin Yung-Yuan Yangqin Solo Concert to high acclaim from the music industry. In the same year, he was selected as a "Star of TNUA," performing the Yangqin concerto Loulan Woman with the TNUA Chinese Orchestra conducted by Ren Yan-Ping. In 2019 and 2020, he held "Smokey Elegance" Lin Yung-Yuan Yangqin Solo Concert and "Endless Harmony" Chang Ya-Yuan & Lin Yung-Yuan Joint Concert, respectively. In 2021, he held "Two Watchtowers" Joint Concert with Erhu player Liu Yu-Ching.
