Born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, Tzu-Wen Wang began learning the erhu at the age of ten, studying successively under Teacher Yang, Si-Xiong, Teacher Jiang, Ming-Kun, and Prof. Ding, Lu-Feng, while also receiving instruction from Prof. Ding in various Chinese bowed string instruments. In 2010, she traveled to Shandong to study the Shandong zhuiqin under Teacher Wu, Yong-Ping, concertmaster of the Jinan Qianwei Chinese Orchestra and zhuiqin master. In 2011, she went to Inner Mongolia to learn the morin khuur (horsehead fiddle) and sihu from morin khuur master Qing Ge-Le (Vice Director of the Inner Mongolia Song and Dance Theatre) and sihu master Tao Ge-Tao, respectively. She also received guidance from renowned morin khuur master Chi Bulag and participated in program recordings for CCTV in Beijing.
From 2001 to 2008, she held several solo recitals and won Third Prize at the "1st Domestic and Overseas Jiangnan Sizhu Invitational Competition" in Hangzhou with the Tainan National University of the Arts Jiangnan Sizhu Ensemble. In 2007, she was selected for the Taipei Chinese Orchestra's "Shining Chinese Music" program. In 2012, she performed at the London 2012 Festival – BT River of Music (Asia Stage).
Wang's performance is characterized by a mellow, rich tone and a delicate, deeply expressive musical emotion that creates a unique stage charisma. She has collaborated with prominent conductors such as Ku Pao-Wen, Su Wen-Ching, Liu Chiang-Pin, and Liu Wen-Hsiang in major concertos. Since joining the Tainan City Chinese Orchestra, she has performed as a soloist in concertos including Liao Tian-Ding, Swallows, and Cantonese Strings. In addition to her passion for stage performance, Wang has dedicated herself to music education and mentorship in recent years, serving as a instructor and section coach for numerous schools, as well as a jury member for various domestic and international music competitions, with her students consistently earning top honors.
