Erhu | Shih-Chieh Chang




Master of Ethnomusicology, Tainan National University of the Arts.

Born in Tainan City, Chang Shih-Chieh began learning music at an early age under the guidance of Teacher Chou Jen-Zhang. During his high school years, he entered the Seven-Year Continuous Program in the Department of Chinese Music at Tainan National University of the Arts, majoring in Erhu and minoring in Morin Khuur (horsehead fiddle). During his academic tenure, he studied under Peng Li-Ting, Erhu Concertmaster of the Kaohsiung Chinese Orchestra, and Professor Ku Feng-Yu. He also traveled frequently to China to receive instruction from masters Gao Shao-Qing and Zhang Yu-Ming. Throughout his studies, he held numerous concerts and competed in various music competitions, earning high acclaim and outstanding achievements. In 2016, he was invited by the Italian Arts Festival to perform in Italy alongside the Bamboo Song Ensemble of Folk Music.
